The Rare Genius of Culture Critic and Polymath David V. Stewart

It is natural to feel despondent and alienated when you’re living in a civilization ravaged by the self-inflicted contagion of identity politics, nihilism, modernism, and cultural Marxism. No matter where you go or what you watch, the prowling Wokenstein monster from Cancelvania lies in wait, ready to bares its fangs with the cries of “bigot!” and “racism!” There seems to be no form of endeavor, media, or entertainment that has escaped its malignant grasp.

It is in times of hardship and calamity that prophets are sent, and heroes emerge. One such prophet and hero is David V. Stewart. This man is a gifted polymath — a prolific writer, musician, educator, and most importantly, a wise cultural critic.

Until recently, I had no idea that he even existed. It was while educating myself on the Naughty Dog: The Last of Us Part 2 controversy that David came to my attention via his video analysis of the matter:

David’s video is a masterclass deconstruction of the madness that has infected Naughty Dog. I urge everyone to watch it.

Since viewing this video, I have found a treasure trove of other video commentaries on many cultural issues of our time. Each of them is also well worth watching.

Not only is David a wealth of knowledge, he has the uncanny ability to diagnose the underlying pathologies of our sick culture with a special emphasis on deconstruction of the double-headed monster of corporatism and Hollywood.

One of his videos deserves special mention. David presents his theory of how corporations acquire, milk, then kill intellectual property. This is key in understanding how corporatism are destroying fandom and our culture in the process. It is titled: The 5 Phases of Corporate IP Ownership:

Here’s a small sampling of some of his exceptional videos on various topics:

David’s video analysis is bolstered by a calming voice and a charitable tone. It became very clear to me that his keen intellect and rare relatable genius is the result of time well spent by voracious reading and quiet contemplation. More importantly, David’s worldview is built on the solid foundation of something sorely missing in today’s cultural zeitgeist: traditional morality.

After watching a few of his videos, I came to learn that he is a Christian. For thousands of years, great artists and authors have been inspired by Jesus Christ. J.R.R. Tolkien, the grandfather of fantasy and proponent of sub-creation, was a devout Roman Catholic.

J.R.R. Tolkien revealed and amplified this hidden gem of truth in this quote:

We have come from God, and inevitably the myths woven by us, though they contain error, will also reflect a splintered fragment of the true light, the eternal truth that is with God. Indeed only by myth-making, only by becoming ‘sub-creator’ and inventing stories, can Man aspire to the state of perfection that he knew before the Fall. Our myths may be misguided, but they steer however shakily towards the true harbour, while materialistic ‘progress’ leads only to a yawning abyss and the Iron Crown of the power of evil.

Every day more people are being red-pilled to the dire state of Western civilization. Andrew Klavan, esteemed cultural critic and Jewish convert to Christianity channeled Tolkien while still a Jew:

As I studied literature, I realized that Jesus was at the center of all of Western literature.

Most of us know there is something quite not right with today’s world. Vices have replaced virtues. Goodness, humility, and decency are rare. Men have been emasculated and feminized by the culture. There is a growing darkness and barbarism afoot.

While finding allies in the culture war makes the pain a bit bearable, we must also have the courage to realize that some things in our culture have metastasized to the point where they are no longer worth saving.

In the pursuit of happiness, our culture has lost sight of eternal truths. The underlying Christian values of Western civilization have been replaced with Satanic counterfeit values. Turn on any TV show, cable show, or Hollywood film and the palpable darkness you feel is the absence of the light of Christ in men’s hearts and the failure of Christians to proclaim that light.

I have a feeling that David V. Stewart knows this as it’s clear that his moral compass informs his video commentaries. I urge everyone to read, watch and listen to his work. If we are going to heal our sick culture and nurse it back to robust health, we need to know what ails it and then work together to apply the proper cure. Who knows, we may just save our souls in the process.
