A few weeks ago black British comedian/actor and Bill Cosby look-a-like Lenny Henry revealed to the BBC that he will be playing a black hobbit in the upcoming Amazon Studios’ Rings of Power TV series based on events that take previous to the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. The creator of Middle-earth, J.R.R Tolkien must be rolling in his grave right now.
Here’s the quote from Henry:
“Suddenly there were Black hobbits. I’m a Black hobbit. It’s brilliant…”
No, it’s not brilliant. It’s a travesty and a disgrace. You’re not a black hobbit and you never will be. Black hobbits do not exist in Tolkien’s universe and they most certainly do not belong in Amazon Studios Middle-earth themed TV series.
I wonder how Sir Lenny would feel if the shoe was on the other foot? What if white actors replaced black actors in black roles in beloved African stories and myths? Would that be “brilliant” Lenny? You would wouldn’t be laughing then. You’d be outraged and rightly so.
The self-proclaimed expert on hobbits continues his dissertation:
“It’s about the early days of the Shire and of Tolkien’s environment, so we’re an indigenous population of Harfoots, we’re hobbits but we’re called Harfoots. We’re multi-cultural, we’re a tribe not a race, so there are Black, Asian and brown, even Maori types within it.”
What utter nonsense.
Before this disturbing story surfaced, I had never heard of Henry and outside of the UK, nobody knows or cares who he is. However, Henry, is well known in England for his activism and advocacy for “diversity and representation” in the arts and entertainment.
Diversity is code for: hire anyone but a white male actor. So it seems Amazon Studios was also making a political choice when they chose this diversity grifter.
Black Hobbits Don’t Exist in Middle-earth
Hobbits with dark brown pigmentation and hobbits with negroid features have no place in Middle-earth. They were never specifically mentioned or described by Tolkien. Black hobbits have never existed in any serious artist’s depiction of the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings. Bounding Into Comics did a superb job exposing this in a recent article.
Tolkien reckoned that England never had a proper mythology like other nations, so his universe was meant to be a substitute mythology for British people. It was never meant to represent all of the various races of humanity and it was created specifically and exclusively to honor the great history of England and the English people.
Meet Jennifer Salke Amazon Studios CEO: Destroyer of Worlds and High Priestess of Wokeness
The mastermind at Amazon Studios responsible for this is catastrophe is CEO Jennifer Salke. Her misguided deference to identity politics and wokeness is unforgivable. Her team of writers and casting directors are a disgrace and should be hanging their heads in shame for allowing and perpetrating this disfiguration of Tolkien’s work.
We would expect no less from woke Amazon. The L.A. Times recently reported that Amazon Studios under the helm of Salke wants at least half of its studios to be “diverse” by 2024:
The Culver City studio’s inclusion policy aims to improve racial, ethnic and gender diversity on screen and its hiring decisions and provide better documentation of its efforts. Amazon Studios said for films or series with three or more people in above-the-line roles, it aims for at least 30% of positions to be filled by women and people from underrepresented ethnic or racial groups. The studio said it plans to increase this to 50% by 2024.
Salke is fully behind this as her statement reveals:
“We know how much work there is to be done to improve representation both on-camera and behind the scenes, and it starts at home, with us,” said Jennifer Salke, the head of Amazon Studios, in a statement. “With clear directives and a commitment to accountability, these guides provide a path toward a more equitable future, both on- and off-camera.”
Work to be done?!? CEO Salke should lead by example, immediately resign, and advocate for a transgender person of color to replace her. Until then, her words are hollow platitudes and empty posturing.
Don’t be fooled. The benign sounding diversity, inclusion, and equity agenda is an Orwellian cult of social engineering that seeks to destroy and harm white males, Western civilization, and Christendom. These Marxist initiatives by companies like Amazon are diabolical and must be vigorously resisted by all good men and women.
The Tolkien Estate is Ultimately Responsible for this Disaster
Since the death of J.R.R. Tolkien in 1973, it has fallen to his son Christorpher and the Tolkien Estate to safeguard the integrity of professor Tolkien’s universe. The esteemed Oxford processor despised the banal Disneyfication and corporate reduction of English and European myth, fairytales, and folklore into amusement park pablum. Professor Tolkien always worried — and rightfully so — that American corporations would never do justice to his literary masterpieces.
For decades, Christorpher Tolkien never permitted his father’s works outside of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings (which were licensed by J.R.R. Tolkien while he was alive) to be sold and commercialized. Years ago, I wasn’t a big fan of the Tolkien Estate because I thought they were overly litigious and backwards. But seeing this fiasco, I know that Christopher would never have allowed this to happen. Even though he was a curmudgeon, he was a stalwart guardian of the Tolkien universe. Christopher died in 2020 in his home in France and left a brood of vipers in his place.
Today the Tolkien Estate has made a deal with the devil.

By not speaking out against black hobbits in the Amazon series and allowing it to proceed, every one of these directors has failed to protect Tolkien’s legacy from usurpation by proponents of the cultural Marxist agenda.
All of them should be deeply ashamed of themselves. There would be no Tolkien Estate without J.R.R. Tolkien. Every one of these people owe their very existence, sustenance, and relevance to professor Tolkien. The least they could do is protect his honorable legacy from woke fools like Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke who aren’t fit to walk in Tolkien’s shadow. Instead, they have become the willing servants of Mammon and the Dark Lord of this earth and his woke minions.
The Quislings Among Tolkien Community
Fan sites like the OneRing.net are seemingly okay with black hobbits being shoehorned into Middle-earth and have even tried to justify the inclusion of black hobbits.
Instead of defending the integrity of Tolkien’s universe, the limp-wristed Tolkien Society has been silent on this controversy. In recent years the society has been infiltrated by cultural Marxists and featured a Tolkien and Diversity seminar in July of 2020. This foul seminar includes a motley crew of lunatic leftists and queer theory grifters.
Both of these cowardly organizations should hang their heads in shame.
Diversity Loving Peter Jackson is another Race Swapping Traitor
Where is Peter Jackson and all of the fine actors who played roles in both the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit film trilogies on the issue of black hobbits? Nowhere to be found and probably hiding in their golden hobbit holes.
Where is Jackson’s buddy, professed Tolkien lover, and buffoonish late night comedian Stephen Colbert on this controversy? AWOL.
A statement from Jackson, Ian Mckellan, or Kate Blanchett opposing this insane idea would be a ray of hope that could rally millions of fans. But these overpaid celebrities remain quiet for fear of angering their woke overlords.
Based on Peter Jackson’s history of race swapping, I’m guessing he too probably approves of black hobbits. Back in 2014, Max Musson of the Western Spring reported that Jackson gratuitously cast black, Asian, and East Indian actors as Laketown extras in the second Hobbit film.

Tolkien Scholar Tom Shippey’s Departure from Amazon is a Bad Omen
One thing that portends very poorly for the authenticity of Amazon series, is the departure of renowned Tolkien scholar Tom Shippey in 2019. He was hired to ensure that the show would be faithful to Tolkien’s works and his vision.
It is most likely that Shippey left Amazon Studios at the same time he learned about the preposterous inclusion of black hobbits.

If J.R.R. Tolkien were alive today, he would be horrified at the prospect of his creation being used as a vehicle to promote an anti-white, anti-English, anti-Western, cultural Marxist agenda. The inclusion of black hobbits is a profound insult aimed directly at professor Tolkien, his masterpiece of sub-creation, and his generations of loyal fans.

If Amazon manages to somehow get away with it, I fear all manner of non-canonical atrocities will pop up in Middle-earth TV series. Tolkien’s world is not the depraved dystopia of Game of Thrones where wokeness, mindless violence, sexual perversion, and LGBTQ propaganda is passed off as “entertainment” to jaded HBO viewers.
Despite the fact that anyone who dares complain about this will be labeled as a racist, everyone who cares about the Lord of the Rings should make their voices heard. If they can mutilate the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and escape unpunished, they can and will destroy every other work of serious fiction in Western civilization and sacrifice it on the blood-stained altar of wokeness.
What Amazon Studios is doing to Middle-earth is a desecration of Tolkien’s universe. This butchery of Tolkien’s lore for political and virtue signaling purposes should be condemned by all people regardless of race. Every race, ethnicity, nation has the right to defend and promote the integrity of their culture and mythology. What the Tolkien Estate and Amazon Studios is in the process of doing is a shameless act of cultural terrorism. I believe that millions of Tolkien fans will not take kindly to this brazen sacrilege and as a result, this misguided TV series will be a colossal failure.
Update: I found a good video that explains how woke journalists are creating most of the problems and then riding in on their white horses to save the day. Amazon Studios’ Lord of the Rings TV series is a perfect example.

Not at all. I would love to see more data showing that people of color are still being less paid in general, even by the supposedly enablers and good guys. A Tolkien movie/series would have to consider that Tolkien was a western Christian and that he wrote his novels for this audience. The same could be expected from a movie and series for this audience.
You posted some nice examples. They make about much sense and are about as cringe worthy as “female Thor”. It kinda reminds me of Tolkien, this twisting of things is very much like Melkor tortured some Elves so cruelly that they became Orcs. It is also the well-known way of the devil: by twisting things, by twisting good things into abominations.
Look what Amazon did to the Wheel of Time cast. Most readers just wonder whom they picked for which character and did not recognize them immediately or at all.
It is a terrible heavy handed approach to propagate the diversity agenda. Just wait for 50% females and people of color in war movies. French medieval soldiers looking like black Algerians. For Vikings the Vikings series apparently already put in the mind of people that Viking women fought as well. That the physically larger and stronger males still made up the bulk of their raiding forces gets readily ignored. Because men and women are equal in all things, so it is kinda funny that so many male transwomen suddenly dominate female sports subjected to such nonsense. Everyone knows its wrong, but this nonsense is still ongoing.
Amazon will “New World” the Lord of the Rings and Wheel of Time both, and a damn lot more series. The next step will be throttling down and trying to more slowly boil the frog.
